Add sugar and pecans to a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Stir constantly until pecans are caramelized. Cool on wax paper.
For the dressing, mix olive oil and next six ingredients (down to black pepper) together.
In large bowl layer lettuce, pears, blue cheese, avocado, green onions.
Pour dressing over all, sprinkle with pecans.
