Whisk together pumpkin & other ingredients. Place the bread in a baking dish ;& pour the pumpkin mixture over, then turn bread to coat evenly. Let stand 5 min.
Heat 2 T. butter & 2 T. oil in large skillet. Sauté over med. heat. Place 4 slices of the bread in the pan & cook until golden brown on 1 side, about 2-3 min. Turn the slices over & cook until golden brown, 2-3 min longer.
Wipe the pan out with paper towels & repeat with more butter & oil. Keep warm in oven. Serve with allspice butter & maple syrup.
