Heart Merinuges

Makes a nice dessert for a special Valentine's Dinner.

Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • ¼ t. cream of tartar
  • 1 C. sugar

Method

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until frothy.
Gradually add sugar, beat until stiff and glossy.
(Tint pink for hearts with a little red food coloring.)

Make mounds on brown paper or foil lined cookie sheet.
Shape into hearts with back of spoon.

Bake @275º for 55 minutes.
DO NOT REMOVE FROM OVEN!!!!
Turn oven off and leave meringues to cool in oven.

Just before serving fill with ice cream and top with fresh strawberries.

Notes

Use whipped cream or vanilla pudding in place of ice cream.
